Hi Leisha (and all other readers). I’m also a long time poet/lyrical verse writer who is trying to go into music. I’m another long-time poet who is venturing into lyric writing. I have written stuff intentionally for music but nothing’s come from it — mostly because I haven’t spoken to musicians much.

I have two deliberate song verse on my profile and another is just a poem that works as lyrical verse. If someone goes to my SoundCloud, you can find another song that was made directly from poetic verse (this was a demo I paid to have made).

Hi everyone, I’m rather new to SongBay though I’m a long time poet and would-be lyricist. I’m also a long time blogger and such but that’s getting away from the point.

How many here are writing stuff inspired by social events or current news and politics? They were so common in 60s pop (or so it seems like it — not that I’m old enough to have experienced that) and with events of today, I’d think there’d be interest in that kind of thing. Be it from performing artists or from the listeners.

I wrote a would-be song out of protest last year, it’s part of what led me to try out SongBay. You can find the words to “Unity We The People” here.
