Collaborative Pianist/Piano Accompanist

[size=medium][font=Merriweather, serif]This salaried, part-time adjunct faculty position provides collaborative piano support to vocal majors in the School. Pianists would be required to accompany a combination of choral groups, opera theatre, and freshman voice class, while also performing with students for studio classes, master classes, performances, competitions, and juries. Some evening or weekend work will be necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Rehearse and perform with students for lessons, performances, studio classes, master classes, competitions, and juries (vocal and instrumental assignments as needed)
2. Accompany opera rehearsals and performances
3. Accompany daily vocal ensemble rehearsals and performances
4. Accompany for Freshman Voice Class
5. Accompany for auditions as requested

REQUIRED SKILLS

1. Have experience performing traditional and contemporary vocal repertoire, including musical theatre
2. Sight-read and learn quickly (including open choral and operatic scores)
3. Have an awareness of stylistic concerns throughout the vocal / instrumental repertoire
4. Guide musical decisions through references to musical devices, such as text, phrase, pitch, register, etc.
5. Communicate with faculty, supervisors, staff, and students
6. Coordinate schedule daily and weekly throughout the semester

Required Job Qualifications

BM/BA in Piano Performance with evidence of accompanying experience (at least 3 years)
OR
BM/BA in Collaborative Piano with evidence of accompanying experience (at least 3 years)
