(verse 1)
It’s my birthday once again and
I’m a year closer to death and
That’s a good reason to celebrate
Each year it comes around quicker
Puts a strain on my old ticker
Another reason to celebrate
I remember when I was five
I was so glad to be alive
I had all my life ahead of me
When I was ten I knew right then
It was so fun being just ten
In my childhood I was so happy
(chorus)
Time time it waits for no-one
Passes by so fast
Enjoy every breath you take
From the first to the last
(verse 2)
At fourteen I had a sweet dream
That one day I would write umpteen
Best selling novels and I would be
So rich and I would live in a
Big house and have steak for dinner
And in a ship I’d sail out to sea
In my twenties I got myself
A job stacking tins on a shelf
But at home I continued to write
Songs and stories to amuse me
For writing it made me happy
It made me feel higher than a kite
(chorus)
Time time it waits for no-one
Passes by so fast
Enjoy every breath you take
From the first to the last
(instrumental bridge)
(verse 3)
When I reached the age of forty
I found out that writing for me
Would not bring a life of luxury
I had only sold one or two
Poems but I didn’t feel blue
Writing for me was compulsory
I am now much older and I
Realize that one day I’ll die
But I’ll die with a smile on my face
For I’m looking forward to death
Can’t wait to take my final breath
Then I’ll be in a much better place
(chorus)
Time time it waits for no-one
Passes by so fast
Enjoy every breath you take
From the first to the last
Time time it waits for no-one
Passes by so fast
Enjoy every breath you take
From the first to the last
