When I met you...life unsteady, sudden changes, feeling blue
Was called a name...put in corners, left to cry, alone, ashamed
You took my hand...out from the shadows, into the light, you helped me stand
As time went by...left my cocoon, spread my wings, and learned to fly

I needed you then more than I could know
Helped me learn how to fly so long ago
On delicate wings through life's storms
You dried the tears from my eyes
I feel your strength every time I see a butterfly

Time rolls by...6 years old, now I'm 60, in the blink of an eye
Time spent waning...took you for granted, amidst life's struggles, work, and playing
That you'd be there...to pick me up when I was down, the cross you bear
The cross I burn...when I fail to give the same love in return

I wish I'd been there for you as you've been there for me
Let too much time pass me by, now I'm starting to see
You deserved so much more
And there's no question why
I miss you most everytime I see a butterfly

Our time is near...to reminisce, those times in life, we hold so dear
Then say goodbye...try being strong, and hold your hand, try not to cry
But before you go...on wings to heaven, there's one thing that you should know
You're in my heart...you'll always be, you always were, right from the start

The boy inside remembers, the love and care you showed
Love, respect, and God, those were seeds you sowed
No matter where life takes me
No matter how much time goes by
I'll think of you...every time I see a butterfly

Every Time I See A Butterfly

I hardly knew my Mom, it's been so long, I can't recall her pretty face...
The same holds true for you, but it's your Daddy who, you often miss his warm embrace...
They were taken from the two of us, so very long ago...
We'll hold them in our hearts forever, wherever we may go...

It hasn't been so long, since we said goodbye, since we cried those salty tears...
to the ones who held us tightly, to whom we shared our joys and fears...
If only one wish was bestowed us, after all the time that flew...
It'd be to ask "Do you really love me?", and hear you say "I do"...

Say "I Do", say "I Do", we long to hear those words from you...
If only for a moment somewhere near the church's pew...
Say "I Do", say "I Do", words to us so precious are so few...
Nothing more we miss so much than to hear you say "I do"...

You know I've never been a rich man, but with that you could live without...
We see eye-to-eye on so many things, but not on all without a doubt...
You like to call yourself and old soul, I like to say I'm young at heart...
The age between us doesn't matter, I'm not the same when we're apart...

It hasn't been so long, since we said hello, since we had that secret kiss...
Know I can't say goodbye, to the one I love, to the one I'd truly miss...
If only one wish was bestowed me, what would keep me from feeling blue...
Is to ask you "Will you marry me?" and hear you say "I do"...

Say "I Do", say "I Do", I long to hear those words from you...
And promise me forever, somewhere near the church's pew...
Say "I Do", say "I Do", words to me so precious are so few...
Nothing more I wish so much, than to hear you say "I do"...

If the day it came, I'd fall to my knees, I'd give you your engagement ring...
It'd mean that I love you forever, you know it'd mean everything...
I hope I've done something right, amidst all that I've done wrong...
Hear you say the words I've longed to hear, leave your lips in beautiful song...

The only thing I'd feel was missing, the only thing that wasn't right...
Make me feel I had dishonored, brought some darkness to his light...
In his place up high in heaven, your Dad deserves his respect too...
Wish I could ask for your permission, and pray I hear you say "I do"...

Say "I Do", say "I Do", I long to hear those words from you...
If only for a moment somewhere near the church's pew...
Say "I Do", say "I Do", words to me so precious are so few...
Nothing more I wish so much, than to hear you say "I do"...

Say "I Do", say "I Do", I long to hear those words from you...
From the man I don't remember, from the man I never knew...
Say "I Do", say "I Do", I hope you're listening up there too...
Ask "Do you love her like no other?", you know you'll hear me say "I do".

Hear You Say I Do

Like that old red rooster crowin', time to get out of bed,
the noisy gossip in the barn, while all the girls get fed,
Like that old churchbell that we hear, on every Sunday morn,
or the sound of Mr. Hubbard's nearby field of growing corn,
I honestly swear it's true, no shit...
just be patient for a while and sit...

Like the celltone when you call me, I know it's time to go,
the sound of your sweet voice sayin', "Oh, how I miss you so",
Like my backyard always buzzin', with the birds and the bees,
stumblin' 'round as usual tryin', to find my damn truck keys,
and my lighter 'cause my cig's not lit...
you know that usually takes me a bit...

You know soon I will be headed, out on that same ol' ride,
I'm always driving way too fast, just to be by your side,
You should know that there's no other, could ever stand above,
like the phrase I have often heard, that one about the glove,
time with you and other things that fit...
yeah, it has a certain ring to it.

Like the catchphrase that I just heard, played in the song you know,
Yeah, I am finally on my way, listenin' to the radio,
Just like any given day now, today is nothing new,
I get my usual text to pick you up a drink or two,
Better do it or you'll have a fit...
yeah my baby needs her caffeine hit...

Like you need to ask me, cause you, know that I always will,
the register opens up to change my $50 bill,
Like the music that you're playin', when you are feelin' blue,
you can count on me to be there, and to always comfort you,
on you you know I would never quit...
not even just for a little bit...

I hope you know I am ready, to remain on this ride,
spending time with you forever, right there by your side,
Every day I thank the stars and, I thank the Lord above,
for your presence in my life now, your patience and your love,
shot your arrow of love, and I got hit...
and it had a certain ring to it...

Like the sound of wrapping paper, torn on a holiday,
our little ones giggling loudly, as they romp 'round and play,
Like that old dusty musicbox, set near the windowsill,
the day I asked you to be mine, and heard you say "I will",
it's because of you my heart stays lit...
beating brighter than the darkest pit...

Like the changing in your sweet voice, when someone makes you mad,
the first time hearin' little ones, no sweeter word than Dad,
Like knowing I wouldn't ever, hear you tell me goodbye,
a cryin' child in the wee hours, a late night lullaby,
wrapped up in the blanket that you knit...
rocked back to sleep with the song I've writ'...

Feelin' confident and steady, how I love this sweet ride,
like the sound of you forever, forever by my side,
Said you couldn't care less about, reaching fortune or fame,
Tell me how your life without me, just wouldn't be the same,
like my favorite old time country hit...
yeah, it has a certain ring to it...

Like the sound heard from your sweet lips, the day you said "I do",
like the cooing of those white doves, released and they all flew,
You should know that you are my rock, and my eternal flame,
My heart beats brighter than ever, since you took my last name,
Like many things in my life I'll admit...
that day had a certain ring to it.

A Certain Ring To it

A Certain Ring To it

You were young... and wild, on a down...hill slide, when he met you
Strugglin' e...very day, tryin' to find... your way, you were feelin ' blue...

But as time/// went by/, he must've caught/// your eye/
You married/ him, you gave/ it your all///
But he let... you down, headed out... of town, you headed for another... fall///

Just when you thought... it was safe!...
to give somebody your heart
All you end... up is chafed...
beaten down, torn apart!...
Actin' like he told you those vows!...
as if just... on a whim...
You'd hoped for so much more...
when you got together with him.

You both went... your ways, and everybody... pays, in the long run
Broken fa...mily, lots of mi...sery, but all's not said... or done...

You met somebo///dy new/, didn't know what/// to do/,
His heart/, his touch/, his kiss they seemed right///
You finally re...alized, you were fi...nally prized, true love was now... in sight///

You were pretty sure... it was safe!///
to give somebody your heart
and not end... up being chafed...
beatin' down, torn apart!...
Hoping he was the one!///
to make your life not so dim...
One night he planted a seed...
when you got together with him.

The day it fi...nally came, you even knew... her name, you both loved her
You somehow took... a fall, he thought he'd lost... it all, thought it was over...

But you made/// it through/, and your ba///by too/, and just when he thought that he had all he had yearned...
In comes your ex... old flame, for closure and to end... the blame, when his back... is turned///

Just when he thought... it was safe!...
to give somebody his heart
To not end... up being chafed...
beatin' down, torn apart!...
Hoping you were the one!///
to make his life... not so dim...
His special day tainted, undone...
when you got together with him.

Not knowing who he should blame...
why his life... was so dim...
You should've known it'd ne...ver be the same...
when you got together...with him.

When You Got Together With Him

I always had my Father in my life, but my Mom I never knew,
her gentle touch, it must have meant so much,
since our days together were so few...
So very young that day, when they parted ways, as people sometimes do,
Yet I felt a pain inside me, and along with me it grew...

There was hope he could replace her, but hope can be a dangerous thing,
I was called a name, I'd never be the same,
lacked the shelter of her "wing"...
They should've understood my innocence, in my ears their harsh words ring,
I often wonder if they knew, the damage it would bring...

Never knowing why, why they made me cry,
I know I was just feelin' scared,
Life already rough, now not good enough, the sudden change I'm not prepared,
Didn't recognize, so long ago, some thing got torn apart,
The quiver of my pain
and the damage was all heart...

We moved around, so many towns, unfamiliar streets were all I'd see,
So young to hold, such a heavy load, the burden became familiar to me,
I'd overhear the unkind words, wish my senses weren't that keen,
The past and present left, little hope in future unforeseen...

Tried to let go, of the past, and cast my fears aside,
I thought we had a future, you'd be my comfort and my bride,
Wish I didn't see so clearly, I can't forget the day you lied,
Gave my best to you, thought you were all heart too, felt that pain again inside...

Forgivin' easily, amidst all the pain you see, I never seemed to know the way,
And I'm so unsure, when I look at her, and the reminder of that day,
I had my doubts, I'm certain, and I told her from the start,
She knew everything about me,
She knew I was all heart...

The time's gone by, I try to learn, from mistakes that weren't my own,
Have ones that care, know I'm always there, taking care of seeds I've sewn,
Never leave 'em cryin' in the night, never feelin' all alone,
Give them everything I never had, never hurt them, as they've grown,

Finally found the one, I thought would miss her son, share my hopes and fears,
My picture perfect memory, held onto so tightly, throughout the years,
I never thought that you, didn't want me too, you left me standing in my tears,
And as you walked away forever, that pain inside me reappears...

Don't put the blame on me, the truth is plain to see, on this I won't abide,
Some things will never do, never done the same to you, the feelin' won't subside,
Been learnin' lessons slowly, almost from the very start,
Guess it was meant to be, you and others, unlike me,
You would never be all heart...

Can't believe I wasted precious time on you, not knowing what you'd do, it tears me up inside,
Holding out with hopes for you, and the others too, until the day I died,
I wouldn't know the damage done, since my Mom and I did part,
'till she bled the final drops,
from the hole that used to be all heart.

All Heart

I hoped and prayed my little girl would never see,
the pain and strife of war that's happened here and overseas,
Hard to understand the reason, but we realize the cost,
So many have been laid to rest, some even have gone lost...

She's off to school, feelin' good, she'll learn her ABCs,
The same should be true, for her numbers too, not 1...2...World War III,
Eventually, she'll see their loss, in the books that she will read,
She'll learn to honor them, for they honored us indeed...

The sacrifice, the stolen lives, forgot along the way,
The freedom we enjoy, while others had to pay,
They gave it all, and took the fall, full of pride and dignity,
And in their final hours, they still thanked God for country...

Now we see our loved ones off, as we've seen them off before,
The hugs, the tears, justified fears, as they walk out of the door,
It's not our war, but it's our world, and most people feel the same,
We're all one family, pray to our God, we praise his name ..

She'll never understand it, she was taught to love and share,
The selfishness of others, sometimes too much to bear,
She says "please put them in time-out", we all wish we could for sure,
Not knowing that their hearts, are unlike hers, are not so pure...

They sacrifice, other's lives, always others that must pay,
For the freedom we enjoy, every single day,
We heard the call, we're standing tall, we're off of bended knee,
Thank God who gives us strength and hope, we thank God for country...

The other day I swore that I, heard the battle cry,
He must've heard it up above, oh so high up in the sky,
I prayed to him, was he listenin'?, when our backs are 'gainst the wall,
And then the rain began, his tears began to fall...

Time for bed, my little girl, you know you should,
Thank God for country music, you fall asleep, I knew you would,
And just like any other night, I get down on bended knee,
To honor him, and pray for them, for all they've done for you and me...

His son sacrificed, gave his life, as others we have known,
We didn't hear, their final cries, as they lay there all alone,
They gave it all, and took the fall, not for them but for you and me,
Wish we'd been there, at the end, loving eyes the last they'd see...

They'll sacrifice, give their lives, every single day,
Their loved ones and their families, so very far away,
They'll give it all, try not to fall, be the best that they can be,
Our faith in him, and fighting "men", we thank God for country...

Thank God For Country

This world that we reside in, has changed in many ways...
the Coronavirus keeps us guessing, as if walking through a maze...
A simple hug, a handshake, right from the very start...
hindered by the fact we're supposed to be 6 feet apart...

It keeps some hiding in their homes, as if they are in jail...
afraid they may be put in danger, their loved ones they won't fail...
it's Christmas time, and to the stores for shopping we should head...
but our fears are justified and keep us stuck online instead...

It's Christmas time, the snow will fall, just like it always does...
you just don't see as many people, you don't hear the usual buzz...
But the guy in red, will deliver presents, just like it always was...
and that my friends is stipulated by the Santa Clause...

If someone handed you a lemon, you'd just make some lemonade...
so don't get too frustrated, even though we all have paid...
the Christmas spirit has been joined by others we have loved and known...
though the Coronavirus took them, they will never be alone...

Please keep the true meaning of Christmas in your hearts, that is our only task...
even though we're forced to wear them, the true spirit must not be masked...
even though we can't be close together, on this special holiday...
still shout hallelujah and to our Lord please continue to pray...

It's Christmas time, the turkey leg, you know how Dad on it he gnaws...
help heal the pain that fell upon us, as a wound you heal with gauze...
That guy in red, will deliver presents, for the children is his cause...
and that my friends is stipulated by the Santa Clause...

Through the darkness we have traveled, searching for a ray of hope and light...
and it soon will show its beauty as it did one starry night...
so very long ago in Bethlehem, it must've been a wonderous sight...
wish I'd been there to see baby Jesus, and his glory at its height...

The true meaning of Christmas, it's not about money nor about gifts...
the only presence we all need, up in heaven still exists...
just believe that we'll get through this, as we all believe in him...
his glory and his might will cease the world from being dim...

It's Christmas time, we'll cut our trees, with axes and with saws...
fill the stockings up with candy, the kind that sticks to the kids' jaws...
that jolly guy is plump with presents, even the Coronavirus won't make him pause...
nor bad weather and that my friends is stipulated by the Santa Clause...

There's a man in red that loves us, like Jesus he ignores our many flaws...
and that my friends is why we'll always have our Santa Clause...

The Santa Clause

You got under my skin, this ******* stone cold rapper,

No time for any more neglect, my house under lock and key,

It never happened here, but who cares, the truth is plain to see,
That little girl is hurtin', you can ******* count on me,
and it's all because of him, and his ******* history...

Tryin' to hold it all together, wanna shove your face into the crapper,
gonna make you pay somehow you ******* stone cold snapper,
she's so brave, confiding in me in the house I mother ******* built,
I ain't gonna let her down, more than her life's gonna get a jilt...

I'm keepin' you in sight, hell, I'm one badass mapper,
no safe road ahead for you, you ******* stone cold snapper,
I'm prayin' to you Lord, on my knees you see me kne(I)lt,
make him pay for what he's done, she's heard enough of his filthy lilt..

For once I've done my homework, dot that ******* i, cross that ******* t,
spread the ******* word, keep little ones safe no matter where you be,
How many other little girls are hurtin', how many saw your ******* d?,
How much damage you really done throughout your ******* history?...

Couldn't count on her own Daddy, so she confided in me,
you didn't do your homework, but I'll still give you ******* Bs,
why's it always gotta be a ******* "friend" or "family"?,
What happens next is cuz of you...and you're ******* History...
