D
I staggered down the street once more
G
From bar to bar drinking whiskey galore
D A7
Oblivion the only thing on my mind
D
But I tripped and fell right to the ground
G
Cracked my head what an awful sound
D A7 D
And my world just started spinning to these words
C G D
I don’t want to be here anymore
C G D
No not sprawled upon this concrete floor
D
But I woke up in a hospital bed
G
The nurse did frown said thought you were dead
D A7
Her words they struck in two ways I was dumb
D
In that moment of sobriety
G
I thought what the heck has happened to me
D A7 D
The fall was long and graceless to my hell
C G D
I don’t want to be here anymore
C G D
No not knock knocking on the devils door
D
So I went down to the Betty Ford
G
Threw open the doors cried help them lord
D A7
Help them to fix me cos I’m broke
D
So they put me into one of their cots
G
Caught them laughing and drawing lots
D A7 D
To see if I would break in side two days
C G	D
I’m not sure I really want to be here
C G D
Cos I need another drink to conquer my fear
D
I cussed and shouted profanity
G
Went to hell and back with my insanity
D A7
But I wrote my feelings down to purge my soul
D
There ain’t no songs or poetry
G
Just rough old prose and mediocrity
D A7 D
But it’s wonderful to see that ink just flow
C G D
I don’t want to go back there again
C G D
No not knock knocking on the devil’s den
D
I don’t want to go back there no more
G
No not knock knocking on the devil’s door
C G D
I just don’t want to go there anymore
C G D
I just don’t want to go there anymore
C G D
I ain’t going back there anymore
