The Anchor and the Thread
I wandered lost, through shadows deep,
With promises I could not keep.
Drowning in a sea of gray,
Exhausted by the light of day.
I hung upon a single thread,
Filled with weary, quiet dread,
Until the truth broke through the night:
I had forgotten the Source of light.
I forgot the One who bore the pain,
Who stood within the freezing rain,
Who suffered on the rugged cross
To save my soul from every loss.
I forgot I have a Father’s ear,
To catch my rant, my laugh, my fear
A faithful God, both firm and true,
Who carries me when I am through.
Though life may hit with heavy hand,
Upon His grace, I choose to stand.
For what is this, my fleeting grief,
Beside His wounds that brought relief?
He sympathizes with my soul,
His steady hand will make me whole.
As I commit my life to Him,
The light returns where it was dim.
No longer lost, no more afraid,
For in His love, my debt is paid.
The Thread may snap, but I won't fall
The Anchor holds me Through it all.
