Some might say I’m lazy
Some might say I’m good for nothing

And some of that is probably true
But, theres one thing that I always do

I’ve got my union beer drinking card and I use it every day
I’m always headed down
To the local bar

No, I’m not one of those guys
Always trying to raise the bar
Or set it high

I’m just one of those guys who wants to sit at the bar,
And drink long into the night

Cause as a working man
I get dehydrated
And the only way that I can rehydrate
And quench my thirst
Is with a cold beer

You gotta put your time in
To get this union beer drinking card
You gotta show up regular
Drink a lot
And play hard

It’s not something you can do on the weekend or once in a while

It’s something you gotta do every night
You gotta show up with a smile

When you start off
You can probably only get down three or four

But as you get better, you can start drinking down
A whole lot more

And once you move up from apprentice
And get your journeyman card
You can travel anywhere you want
And drink in any bar

Anywhere you walk in, your union Brothers welcome you

They all have been there before,
And know what you’ve been through

Don’t get me wrong
This card is nothing to brag about
But once you get this card
You can start drinking an ale or a stout

The union beer drinking card is hard to get these days
Cause everyone wants to drink those funny drinks
And sip on them all day

But there’s nothing like an ice cold beer at the end,
of a long, long day

So if you wanna get your union beer drinking card
Come on down and stay

Stay for a while and drink a couple of beers
you’ll move up from an apprentice
In just a couple of years

I’m proud to be
A union beer drinking card holder
I keep it with me and represent,
as I get older
