Final Peace

By Alan Burke
Final Peace

When the long knives move me on
I'll be heading for my home
My kin are all waiting there
And their teepee I will share

I'm going to place
For the red man's race
A place where battles cease
I've seen it in my dreams
Somewhere in my dreams
A place for final peace

I'll be making myself a bow
And I'll go hunting buffalo
I'll do as my heart's desire
And do the sun dance round the fire

I'm going to place
For the red man's race
A place where battles cease
I've seen it in my dreams
Somewhere in my dreams
A place for final peace

I will fish in the river 'til sunset comes
I will track in the forest as my father's have done
My squaw will be stringing some beads
And be cooking supper for our needs

I'm going to place
For the red man's race
A place where battles cease
I've seen it in my dreams
Somewhere in my dreams
A place for final peace

I will fish in the river 'til sunset comes
I will track in the forest as my father's have done
My squaw will be stringing some beads
And be cooking supper for our needs

I'm going to place
For the red man's race
A place where battles cease
I've seen it in my dreams
Somewhere in my dreams
A place for final peace
