The Band Behind the curtain
faces is hidden and unseen
darkness ready to get loud
the crowd ready to get mean
a table quickly taken
4 girls in their chairs
it was then I played Madonna
as the dance floor filled with stares
as the curtain rose up
80,000 screaming fans
the music joined in
2 lighters and raised beer cans
Technique turntables spun the vinyl
as I controlled the lights
free drinks and the spotlight
I'll never forget those nights
the fans turned off their lighters
the energy would settle
for the next two hours
their lives consumed with metal
It was Neptune’s on a Saturday
Jerry G was slinging drinks
my music kept them dancing
to pick up lines and winks
no one left their seats
as eric's drum solo played
he was channeling his inner rush
as they applauded and stayed
at times the girls would rest
playing rock and roll for the men
as new girls would arrive
I played dance songs again
as the song seemed to get louder
a girl exposed her to tit
suddenly they were dancing
creating a mosh pit
In the 80s it was simple
I got paid to make girls move
mony mony was a given
So was Madonna’s into the groove
Taking charge of the music
and the fun had by all
the night was coming to a close
it was about time to say last call
as the band's last song ended
80,000 fans stood tall
the band walked off the stage
preparing for their curtain call
the last song I played
was always American Pie
when the bar lights came on
I took off my skinny tie
as the band took their vows
and Eric threw his sticks
his fans loved the metal
And mine were there for chicks
