who's to blame
is it her or me
news from the doctor
confirmed we could never be 3
the tears on her face
there's no words you can say
broken hearts blocked the future
of two grateful smiles one day
with four eyes now focused
standing up to defeat
thoughts of the dinner table
with a third plate and a seat
I can't imagine your discussion
with a child's life as an option
that's when you both smiled
and agreed on adoption
happy now your search has begun
with his own bedroom to sleep in
never expecting more sadness
like a mother's last kiss on your son's chin
again there was silence
as she turned toward the door
all I can give him is love
but a child's future needs more
after miles of travel
and countless prayers as you knelt
a delayed gift finally arrived
and you felt his heart beat
no one chooses sadness
it just appears out of sight
happiness will be defined
when you stand up and fight
with a lifetime to love
do all you can do
her heart was broken
when she handed her son to you
one decision changed 2 futures
when she received a gift sent from heaven
that she'll never light the candles
he'll blow out when he's 11
such a sensitive topic
no one expects to discuss
even with a mother's decision
to abandon her child on a bus
when it's your turn to answer
and decide wrong from right
say every child should have dinner
and to sleep safely at night
since God is the ultimate judge
and no longer walks on earth
no one has the right
to question if a woman should give birth
