LYRIC FOR SALE

By Fedora Rex

Verse 1
I’ve walked a lot of miles in these old weathered shoes
Seen a lot of branches forget about their roots
I used to waste my time looking back across my path
Or staring down the road so far away almost out of gas
I spent too many years trying to outrun the clock
Tripping over gravel while I’m looking for a rock.
Verse 2
The past is just a shadow that you can’t get back
The future is a phantom further down the track
We spend a lot of energy worrying about the rain
Or holding onto hurt feelings and old familiar pain
When your choking on the dust on your clothes
And rocks beneath your heels everywhere you go.
Chorus
You walk through life just one step at a time
You can’t plant your feet on two different lines
Got one foot in tomorrow, one foot in the past
Living in a story that was never meant to last
If you’re stressed about the future you already made
You’re just pissing all over the gift of today.
Verse 3
Now I wake up in the morning and I put my shoes on slow
I ain’t rushing for a deadline or a place I need to go
I look out at the yard and I take a quiet breath
Finding all the value in the simple things I possess
The world is chasing shadows, running out of control
While I’m sitting right here, keeping peace in my soul.
Chorus
You walk through life just one step at a time
You can’t plant your feet on two different lines
Got one foot in tomorrow, one foot in the past
Living in a story that was never meant to last
If you’re stressed about the future you already made
You’re just pissing all over the gift of today..
Bridge
It’s a simple kind of wisdom that took forty years to find
You can’t enjoy the sunshine with a storm inside your mind
Let the dead stay buried, let the morning come around
The best part of the journey is right here on the ground.
Chorus
You walk through life just one step at a time
You can’t plant your feet on two different lines
Got one foot in tomorrow, one foot in the past
Living in a story that was never meant to last
If you’re stressed about the future you already made
You’re just pissing all over the gift of today.
Outro
Yeah, just one step at a time...
Keep your feet right here.
Don't waste today.
