I long to get under your skin.
Get even, even to this day.
It's funny though,
I don't have the fight in me any longer.

I get the urge, I back away.
Too afraid of what you'd say.

I wonder if she knows you only married her for the baby.
I wonder if she knows she's everything I'm not. Apparently.

It's hard to admit that.

And I'm not saying I still miss you,
Or your emotional abuse.

Took me so long to say those words but what's the use?

It's funny though, you had something unconditional in me.
And now you have someone conditioned just to be.

It feels like a long time,
Yet just like yesterday.

Sometimes people move on,
I couldn't convince you to stay.

Every day, I tried harder and harder till I was a shell of my former self.
Half the woman I was prior,
I was in danger,
I had to run away.

The cruel words, the insults, funny though how I never said them back.
Because after all of that,
I still didn't want to attack.
Or hurt you.
I should have.
Because I loved you.
