Rent The Earth

By Richard M Moss MD
Where are the fallen who swore,
When pressed to the floor.
The ground broke our will,
We seek truth, not thrill.

Dirt is the substance of our soul,
We who turn diamonds into coal.
Heavens laugh and give birth,
To those that rent the earth.

O savior defend us,
We who return to the dust.
Prophets warned to fear the Lord,
He shows mercy or the sword.

Till the soil and follow the laws,
Know the wisdom of flaws.
Heaven gives a day of rest,
And declares that farms are blessed.

Heavens laugh and give birth,
To those that rent the earth.

Poems betray the science of love,
Recall the splendor of the dove.
End the sorrow of the mouth,
The sacred oil has journeyed south.

Love the sorrow of the land,
See the sky and stand.
Reject the poison of the fist,
May I stand in your midst.

The heavens laugh and give birth,
To those that rent the earth.

Be loyal to your savior,
Plant the seed and win favor.
Can we silence the rebel?
In your presence we tremble.

Seek the silent voice,
Offend not the choice.
The land rejoices with each seed,
It weeps but does not bleed.

The heavens laugh and give birth,
To those that rent the earth.
