I can’t take a step,
I’m stuck in fear,
From all the losses in life.
My heart races towards you,
But my mind stops me,
Afraid to step into
The same mud
That was so hard to climb back up.
I’m afraid I would fall into that same pit,
One step forward,
One step back.
You know it is so hard
To open my world again,
To someone outside.

To put the walls around me,

And keep my heart from burning again,

To keep myself from being broken
