The Director of Music brings music experience to the University by providing opportunities for students to participate in instrumental and vocal ensembles. The Director will build and maintain a quality band and choral program and will function as a member of the Student Affairs team.

· Recruit high school and transfer students to attend Urbana University to participate in the music programs
· Retain students in the program which is critical in building and maintaining quality ensembles 
· Plan and conduct rehearsals and performances 
· Manage the budget, equipment and rehearsal space
· Manage Performing Arts Scholarships
· Build and maintain a quality band and choral program
· Teach MUS 303 (Band) and MUS 302 (Choir)
· Other duties as assigned

The desired candidate will have a minimum of five years of instrumental or vocal music experience and a Master’s Degree in a related field. The candidate must also possess a knowledge of classic and contemporary music, general knowledge of band instruments and marching band. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and have the ability to travel.[/font][/size][/font][/size]
