HOW COULD YOU
by Carol Wilbois

it started one night in a neighborhood bar
the sky was so dark, not even a star
this is my story, that i wanna tell
about this guy, that’s left me in hell

i sat at the bar, watchin’ out the window
awaiting a blind date who may leave me in limbo
i watched him emerge from his clean driven car
a bouquet in his hand, hoping it’s me they’re for
he presented the flowers and we sat down for dinner
after three glasses of wine i knew he was a winner

he acknowledged the same
and we started to frame
a life to be new
for him and me too

how could this miracle happen to me
i searched for a fella to be faithful to me
how could this miracle happen to me
a lifetime companion to share life with me

we traveled by car. we traveled by train
months of memories we began to obtain
everything perfect. there was no doubt
but suddenly he says he wants to back out

no clarification for his heartbreaking decisions
he cut into my body like a surgeon’s incisions
and now if must start all over again
as soon as my heart can rejuvinate and mend

how could you, how could you do this to me
i thought our relationship was forever to be
how could you, how could you do this to me
with no explanation and walk out on me

how could you, how could you do this to me
i thought our relationship was forever to be
how could you, how could you do this to me
with no explanation and walk out on me

how could you
how could you do this to me
how could you
how could you walk out on me
how could you walk out on me

TAKE A LOOK
by Carol Wilbois

i’m out there and lonely as lonely can be
lookin’ for a women as lonely as me
are you that person, that i want to see
and could it be possible, you’re attracted to me

take a look. take a look. take a look at me
take a look. take a look. take a look at me

i’ve spent many days searchin’ a companion
could you be the one that i’d never abandon
i need to be needed, i feel all alone
could you be the one that wants me for your own

take a look. take a look. take a look at me
take a look. take a look. take a look at me

i’m somewhat attracted to a body that’s fit
can you be the candle i always want lit
sparks will ignite. put my body on fire
and you’ll be the one to fill my desire

take a look. take a look at me
take a look. take a look. take a look at me
take a look. take a loo. take a look at me
take a look. take a look. take a look at me

ON THE RUN
by Carol Wilbois

i’m on the run, i’m gettin’ away
her pa’s got a gun and he wants me to pay
he caught me and daisy doing things in the barn
somethin’ i was stupid doin’ there on his farm

now i’m in my old truck. drivin’ way too fast
hopin’ my tank don’t run out of gas
i know there’s disaster, waitin’ to happen
his car’s goin’ faster, mine’s just-a crappin’

how could this happen
to a nice guy like me
just out in the barn with his daughter you see
we both agreed we was just havin’ fun
who’d a ever thought that i’d be on the run
now it’s a problem. don’t wanna get caught
until just this moment, i never gave it a thought

her pa is the sheriff and he’s meaner than hell
and i’m a little bit scared this won’t turn out so well
his lights, they’re a flashin’. siren’s burnin’ my ears
he’s all loaded up and that increases my fears

he pulled me over. said get out of that truck
your life is over now son. you’ve run out of luck
i thought it was important to take his advice
so much better than givin’ up the fun in my life

how could this happen
to a nice guy like me
just out in the barn with his daughter you see
we both agreed we was just havin’ fun
who’d a ever thought that i’d be on the run
now it’s a problem. don’t wanna get caught
until just this moment, i never gave it a thought

he said get in my squad car. we’re turnin’ around
and we’re meetin’ my daisy back at the barn
and when we got there he said son
get down on your knees
and beg my sweet daisy to marry you please

i took his advice and i asked my sweet daisy
“marry me darlin’ about you i’m crazy
she just looked in my eyes
and this is her reply
iv’e fallin’ in love with a sexier guy
a sexier guy

how could this happen
to a nice guy like me
just out in the barn with his daughter you see
we both agreed we was just havin’ fun
who’d a ever thought that i’d be on the run
now it’s a problem. don’t wanna get caught
until just this moment, i never gave it a thought
no i never
no i never
i never gave it a thought

now who’s in trouble
daisy or me
or another fella
sexier than me

DRUNK ON LOVE
by Carol Wilbois
© 2024. All rights reserved.

when life drags me down, i just get up
and i reach again for my refilled cup
i try again no guarantee
to find a woman just for me

now that i’ve been out and i’ve been datin’
i think i found the one that i’ve been awaitin’
docs’ advice has been so wise
cuz now my lovin’s on the rise

i’m drunk on love
it’s been quite a trip
so i’m toastin’ to my psychiatrist
i can’t forget you, my doc
to you i say
thank god you helped me all along the way
thank god you helped me all along the way

there’s been ups and downs
and there’s been ins and outs
but ain’t that what life’s all about
love comes on fast or it comes on slow
just be patient and let life flow

get hard on life and raise it up
toast it with your red solo cup
and when your woman answers yes
you’ll know you’ve done your very best

i’m drunk on love
it’s been quite a trip
so i’m toastin’ to my psychiatrist
i can’t forget you, my doc
to you i say
thank god you helped me all along the way
thank god you helped me all along the way

one last toast to docs’ advice
my solo cup is down to ice
i’m drunk on love just like i said
now i’m headin’ to my lover’s bed

i’m drunk on love
it’s been quite a trip
so i’m toastin’ to my psychiatrist
i can’t forget you, my doc
to you i say
thank god you helped me all along the way

i’m drunk on love
it’s been quite a trip
found a solution, you just take a sip
toast with me, i’ll soon be drunk
drinkin’ scotch out of my red solo cup
just toast with me, i’ll soon be drunk
drinkin’ scotch
out of my red solo cup
out of my red solo cup
