Fit to Be Tied
I’ll understand if you don’t want to hear
What it is I need to say
But Step 9 is to make an apology
To those I’ve hurt along the way
So please let me say, I’m sorry
For the drinking I did every night
Then stumbling up to your door
In the early morning light
I know you were fit to be tied with me
Because I was never there for you
When all you wanted was me by your side
To know my love for you was true
I’m sorry for leaving you
Standing at the altar there
Because I was drunk
And passed out somewhere
And I’m sorry
For the hurt it caused you
There in front of our friends
And all your family.
I know you were fit to be tied with me
Because I wasn’t there for you
When all you wanted was me by your side
To share our vows and say “I do”.
It took you leaving
For me to hit rock bottom
But I was finally able to see
That alcohol is my problem
I’m taking the steps to get healthy
And it’s important to me that you know
I’ve been sober now for two hundred
And thirteen days in a row.
I still have several steps to go
But I’ve taken a solemn stance
So if you could ever forgive me
I’m asking for another chance.
Because I’m finally fit to be tied with you
And all I want is you by my side.
And in front of God and family
I’ll promise you forever
my love, and my sobriety

Tennessee Whiskey Trip
When you left me
For your new man
I found the nightly pain
Of your memory
Was more than I could stand
So I take a trip every night
No need to drive, or take a flight
From the comfort of my home
I slip away sip by sip
On a Tennessee whiskey trip
And every evening as I start my trip
I think about calling you on the phone
Just to remind you
That you did me wrong
And how you’re to blame for me being alone
But the whiskey soon comes to my aid
And my pain and anger begin to fade
And as I put the bottle to my lips
I know, it won’t be long, before I head down
On a Tennessee whiskey trip
And tonight will end like every night before
I’ll end up passed out on the floor
Because I’ll stumble … and lose my grip
Then I’ll head down
On a Tennessee whiskey trip
And tomorrow night I know what’s in store
I’ll drink to forget your memory once more
And I’ll slip away again
Slowly but surely, sip by sip
On another Tennessee whiskey trip

Another Tomorrow
I know I can’t change the way things are
But I still pray that you won’t go
Knowing that you’re leaving me
Fills my heart with sorrow
So before you go, let me hold you close
Let’s share our bed for one more night
One more time to kiss your cheek
To lie there and hold you tight
One more time to watch you sleep
And listen to you breathe
To whisper softly, I love you
Before you have to leave
Soon you will be gone from me
And my life will never be the same I know
So I just want another tomorrow with you
Before you have to go
Another tomorrow to wake with you
And share another sunrise
Another chance to say good morning
Before the sadness fills our eyes
Another tomorrow to comfort you
And wipe away your tears
To hold your hands in mine
To help ease all your fears
We could be angry and wonder why
But only God knows the answer
Why some people enjoy a healthy life
And why others get cancer
And soon you will be gone from me
And my life will never be the same I know
So I just want another tomorrow with you
Before you have to go
