A COLD WIND BLOWIN’

First Verse

I’m not the best at readin’
What my girl has on her mind
When it comes to her emotions
I’m often flying’ blind (but now there’s)
Surely no mistakin’
That somethin’ isn’t right (I feel a)
Cold wind blowin’, a cold wind is a blowin’
A cold wind blowin’, tonight

When I picked her up for dinner
And she met me at the door
She offered me her cheek instead
Of askin’ me for more (and then)
While drivin’ to the res/taur/ant
She just looked the other way (I felt a)
Cold wind blowin’, a cold wind that was blowin’
A cold wind that was blowin’, my way

Chorus

What is this cold wind that’s a blowin’
At me from her direction?
Did I make amajor misstep
That needs a course correction?
Is there anything that I can do
To win back her affection?
Oh there’s a cold wind blowin’, a cold wind is a blowin’,
A cold wind is a blowin’, tonight

Second Verse

Then after we got seated
And we both had ordered drinks
She stared down at her menu
Lost in thought, she didn’t blink (or hear me)
Ask, “Girl, what’s the matter
Was it something that I said?” (I felt a)
Cold wind blowin’, a cold wind that was blowin’
And I could tell that more was blowin’, ahead

Eventually, she looked up at me
But couldn’t meet me in the eye
As I waited for the words to come
I saw her start to cry (and heard)
“I’m ashamed to tell you,
I’ve been with another guy” (Oh, Lord)
That cold wind blowin’, that cold wind that’s been blowin’
It’s been a blowin’ and now I fi/nal/ly know why

Chorus

Oh Lord, this cold wind that’s been blowin’
Was her deceit, ‘scaped my detection
Is there any hope that I can cope
With the hurt of her rejection
Is there anything that she can do
To win back my affection?
Oh Lord, this cold wind blowin’, this cold wind that’s been a blowin’,
This awful cold wind that’s been blowin’, tonight

A cold wind’s been a blowin’ tonight
