I’ll understand if you don’t want to hear
What it is I need to say.
But Step 9 is to make an apology
To those I’ve hurt along the way.

So please let me say, I’m sorry
For the drinking I did every night
Then stumbling up to your door
In the early morning light

I know you were fit to be tied with me
Because I was never there for you

I’m sorry for leaving you
Standing at the altar there
Because I was drunk
And passed out somewhere

For the hurt it caused you
There in front of our friends

It took you leaving
For me to hit rock bottom
But I was finally able to see …….
That alcohol is my problem.

I’m taking the steps to get healthy.
And it’s important to me that you know,
I’ve been sober now for two hundred
And thirteen days in a row.

I still have several steps to go
But I’ve taken a solemn stance
So if you could ever forgive me
I’m asking for another chance.

Because, I’m finally fit to be tied with you
And all I want is you by my side.
And in front of God and family
I’ll promise you forever….
