"Hassan and Camila"

His name was Hassan,
His skin was tan,
His eyes were brown,
He lived in a big town.

The girl he loved was Camila,
Who lived in a Spanish villa,
She was a dancer, petite and pretty,
She was quite charming and witty.

They had talked online
For a very long time,
And then a lovely week
Hassan went to seek
Camila’s hand in marriage
With flowers and a carriage.

But when Camila talked to her mother,
To her brothers and to her father,
“Over my dead body,” her mother said,
And that made Camila afraid.
She had to say no,
And let Hassan go.

Hassan got so heartbroken,
And not a word was spoken.
He went back home,
And cried under a dome.

Camila never got married,
All her dreams were buried,
All because her family
Couldn’t imagine her happy
With someone so different,
Someone with a weird accent.
