Christmas time brings out the best in everyone
There's happiness and laughter everywhere
The children all behave in hopes of Santa's gifts
Both friends and strangers wish us all good cheer

Our cranky bosses hand out Christmas bonuses
Our loved ones visit us from far and near
The warring nations lay down arms on every Christmas Eve
But, sadly, Christmas only comes but once a year

There's cookies and hot chocolate for carolers
We donate to our favorite charity
Folks volunteer to feed and clothe our homeless
And write to lonely soldiers overseas

Policemen smile and tear up traffic tickets
You find the perfect gift for someone dear
Our favorite family memories are made at Christmas time
It's too bad Christmas only comes but once a year

As I take down the tree, my New Year's vow will be
To try to keep the Christmas spirit all year long

(Instrumental)

Yet once a year we must take pause to cleanse our sins
To celebrate our Lord the Savior's birth
To thank our God for all the blessings given us
To pray for peace and love for all the earth

While we can only hope to be more virtuous
Throughout the Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall
With all our sins and human weakness there's the Miracle
That Jesus brought us Christmas time at all

Merry Christmas
