I was five, the keys were tall,
My hands were small, but I gave my all.
Mum knelt down and said, “Just play,”
I pressed the notes, they made my day.

The house was loud, the days were long,
But those old keys would keep me strong.
No one asked me to explain,
The music knew my joy and pain.

Black and white, quiet and kind,
They listened close to my young mind.
Every sound, a place to go,
Where only I could truly know.
In a world too big for a boy like me,
I found my voice in the melody....

Other kids had fields to run,
I had chords and setting sun.
And though dreams would come and leave,
The piano always made me believe.

I was sixteen, full of fight,
Chasin’ dreams, stayin’ up nights.
But when the noise got loud and wild,
The keys still knew that scared young child.

Black and white, quiet and kind,
They listened close to my young mind.
Every sound, a place to go,
Where only I could truly know.
In a world too big for a boy like me,
I found my voice in the melody....

Through every high, through every fall,
Those keys have heard it all.
They never left, they never changed,
Even when the world got strange....

Black and white, soft and true,
They gave me something cool to do.
A little boy with quiet dreams,
Found the world in golden strings,
Now every time I let hands roam,
That piano feels like home.
........Now I’m grown, with lines and years,
The keys still quiet all my fears.
What I found when small and free,
Still plays the truest part of me.

Still plays the truest part, of me....
