LYRIC FOR SALE

ghostly figures lingered high above in glass
towers that encased them were climbed by one lone man
while peasants strolled below them
these beasts rolled in his cash
then raised the rates up on him
but they never saw old jack

strolling in the front door
just a pen and pad
walked right in before them
then told em why he came
he said i hold the keys to a peaceful place
guarded more than heavens gates

it has trees and fishing lakes

wont you come with me

jack drove them to a tranquil spot
one he’d known from his past
with carhardts on he popped the cork
then overflowed each glass
jack sat and he listened to the silence in the air
soon they all were singing by the fire hot red flames
drink it overcame them

and so did all the laughs

the brass could not outdrink him
but now would clear his path

Monday came in pounding

on Jack’s plate glass front door
the bank boys came home knocking
but not the ones before

Jack he whispered to them
 and no one heard one word
guess they understood him
guess old jack had been heard

he turned to his blood

they looked so ashamed

then jack broke down
and told them of his great big plan
he told of the bankers

fishing in his stream

and all the people he’s met along the way
livin out his dream
he told of the pranksters

that just came to his place

and could not fake their way in

cos he had bigger friends

you see Jack held the keys to a peaceful place guarded more than heaven’s gates

it has friends, and truth and fate

you will find Jack there

all that green sure was tempting

but jack he stood his ground
things don't always have a happy ending
but this was did for this small town
Score one for the good guys

the one’s that he surrounds

to give all of his strength

to those that he makes proud
