Time Capsule

When we were young the days seemed timeless
We'd spend hours and hours playing in the park
The time would fly and we'd miss dinner
Then run on home before it got too dark

The years have passed and now we're older
But not forgotten are the secrets we once shared
Now I'm back inside the forest
To see if all our memories are still there

I found the time capsule that we buried in the forest
With all the solemn pledges that we made when nine years old
And in those days of hot and endless summers
We treated all our treasures here like gold

I found the time capsule that we buried in the forest
And the ring of daisies that you placed upon my head
You used to say I was a pretty little princess
And promised in the future we would wed

I found both our photos inside a silver locket
And a golden tress which I had cut from my long hair
A ticket from the yearly summer fairground
The day that you won me a giant panda bear

I recall those days were always full of sunshine
With the sound of sweet birdsong always ringing in my ears
We said back then we'd be best friends forever
And hoped one day our children would play here
