If I'd known how it'd all unfold
I would have put the pedal to the metal
and crossed that state line
I would have double checked
those mirrors
to make sure I left it all behind
I would have thrown my ring
off of state road 9
But no
This tortured love is all mine

I used to spend my days
laughing in the rain
now all I do
Is hide my tears in the beating sun
I use makeup to cover the sleepless nights
and whiskey to cover a lonely heart
Tired of holding it all together
when all I want is to cross that state line

All my dreams crashed and burned
when I made that left hand turn
No idea what was up ahead
Looking for adventure on the wrong side of town
Ended up with a painted clown
Before I knew where I was
I was too far from freedom town

There's no magic 8 ball
to tell me
if it's right
or if its wrong
Just a broken heard to remind me
