First saw her in a bar on a Saturday night
I remember thinkin’ what a beautiful sight
Could feel her energy
Somethin' new to me
Dancin’ with her friends under the lights

Kept goin’ back for a couple of weeks
‘Til I finally got the nerve to go up and speak
Just made her laugh
That was all that it took
Knew right then my heart was hers to keep

So much laughter and joy for the months ahead
Just couldn’t believe I got to share her bed
Talkin’ straight from the heart
We were barely apart
Wasn’t long before I love you she said

We went on just like this for quite a while
Within a few years we walked down the aisle
She was just like a dream
And forever it seemed
Nothin’ could ever take away my smile

But as the years rolled by we slowly started to drift
Didn’t know what it was but I sure felt the shift
Once my feet got planted
I took her for granted
And the smallest things would set off a rift

A rollercoaster ride for a couple of years
But I never dreamed it would end up in tears
We’d get in a fight
But make up alright
Losin’ her forever wasn’t one of my fears

But one last fight today, and she told me we’re done
Could see in her eyes, no getting out of this one
She meant everything to me
Still I acted contrary
Now I’m packing up my car out in the sun

If I had my time again, oh the things I would change
Mistreatin’ those that you love is somethin’ so strange
Would show how much I love her
Put nothing else above her
And do all I could to save her from the pain
