Sleep In the Streets

By G. Sallee
( Verse 1) I stepped outside of my pick up truck , saw a little girl holding out a paper cup , thought to myself what's this world coming to. I gave her some money and as I walked away , said I like your bracelet what does it say , she cried out what would Jesus do. (Chorus Verse) He wouldn't let the homeless sleep in the streets , he'd make bread so his people could eat , he'd heal the sick wouldn't ask for their last dime. He'd tell the rich to take care of the poor or don't come knocking on Heavens door , we should ask ourselves what's this world coming to. (Verse 2) I was going to work just the other day , an old man who'd work for food was along the way , thought to myself what's this world coming to. I gave him my lunch and as I drove away , said I like your shirt what does it say , he cried out what would Jesus do. (Repeat Chorus Verse) (Verse 3) I was standing outside in a voting line , all the politicians telling the same old lies , thought to myself what's this world coming to. I spray painted on the wall as I walked away , to everyone in line I yelled what does it say , they all cried out what would Jesus do. (Repeat Chorus Verse) (Verse 4) I walked into a church and began to pray , the preacher said I like your tattoo what does it say , I cried out what would Jesus do. (Repeat Chorus Verse) Written by : E. Graylin Sallee
