Poetry is empathy conveyed thru words
Other formats lie, poetry is true words
For example: look at the way they do it
Disrespecting the culture w/ poo-poo words
Taking up too much real estate on paper
Kidnapping paragraphs ww/ less than few words
At one point in my life I struggled to speak
Not to speak literally, like, I KNEW words
I just found it difficult to express how
I was feeling till I learned new words
A vocabulary is important y’all
Patriotic even – red, white & blue words
So before you dismiss all of this as whack
Give poetry a chance ‘n try to do words
When you succeed you can say, “Thanks,
For teaching me all those new ways to
USE WORDS!”
