WAR ZONE
By Adan Torres
Her stare would bring tears to my eyes
Soon after I couldn’t breathe
I was mesmerized
Not a word was shared between her and I
But what I saw that night would forever live inside my mind
From her eyes the pain
From her smile the hope
Her lips moved as if to say son I’m coming home
Tears fell to the ground
Arms raised to the sky
Earlier that day her son had said his last goodbye
(INSTRUMENTAL)
It was now her truth
To look at death in the eye
She could no longer move
Splinters had left her paralyzed
Bullets had flown by
Hitting random marks
Her tears as if to cry
It takes darkness to see the light
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
From her eyes the pain
From her smile the hope
Her lips moved as if to say son I’m coming home
Tears fell to the ground
Arms raised to the sky
Earlier that day her son had said his last goodbye
I saw her take her last breath
Holding back the pain
With courage she faced her death
I would later bury her remains
Never shall I forget the way she looked at me
Her eyes as if to say, soon I’ll be home and we will both be free
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
From her eyes the pain
From her smile the hope
Her lips moved as if to say son I’m coming home
Tears fell to the ground
Arms raised to the sky
Earlier that day her son had said his last goodbye
Last goodbye
Goodbye
