MacDADDY SPIDER

By GogSongs
MacDADDY SPIDER
MacDaddy spider lived in a tree and every day all was as it should be. He had eight very long black legs and wee Tam'O'Shanter on his head. His Tam'O'Shanter is one thing he wore just to remind him of all the little Scottish spiders that went before.
All day long he would clamber about fixing his web inside and out. And what a lovely web he could weave and he sipped lots of berry nut cider which he kept up one sleeve. And in another he kept many pins and in another a spindle and things. In one other he had knitting needle twigs all to help him keep his web bright and sprig. But there was something he did have not but couldn't remember cos he forgot.
He would run over here then run over there and pop out his spindle to make silk to repair tiny holes and rips then take lots of sips from his berry nut cider which would then make him hic hic hic. But he never ever lost his footing or ever trip trip trip. Cos he had eight legs and could always hold on with one till the jobs of the day were completed and done.
Most days were brightly sunshine but sometimes it would shower and under his silky-top tent he would snuggle not cower. One showery day he gazed up to see something as he lay on his back through the leaves and the branches and windy tree-top cracks he suddenly remembered the thing he'd forgot, he had eight spindly legs but he had no socks! Now he remembered what he'd forgot, use the silk from the rainbow to use spindle and knit eight beautiful socks for eight legs that would fit and eight hairy feet oh it will feel so neat.
With knitting twigs and the other such things he jumped to the task and set about to weave, he had to be quick cos the bow would soon be gone and he knew if he was quick it would not take him long. From the rainbow first he plucked red and spun and spun till he had thread, then orange he spun until he had two with yellow and green he had four threads to be seen with blue and indigo he had six then the seventh he had violet to add to the mix.
At then end of the day all the socks were woven and done and he suddenly noticed that he was missing just one! There is one missing colour he thought to himself and scratched his head and wondered what to do. I know he thought I'll just hide one hairy foot inside a nice shoe. Up popped a ladybird and said,
“Don't do that, take a look at your Tam'O'Shanter you have a bobble right there.”
MacDaddy spider jumped and was frit he never expected ladybird on the edge of his web there to sit.
“Take a thread from that bobble” Ladybird did advise, “ then you will come full circle for those to see who are wise, and you will have socks a complete set to run around your webby net net and the next time it showers your feet will never again get wet.”
MacDaddy spider he thought then he said,” But my bobble has no colour not to my sight.”
“No,” said Ladybird, “to you its just white, but believe me MacDaddy when you finish this night you will have woven the full magic circle of our Creator's bright light.”
