Love Me Like A Dog
By David Cox
Only from one place, all my life
Have I known pure, true, unconditional love
You’d never be able to guess from where, and be right
So, I’ll tell you, it’s my dog I’m talking of
Now you can stand there and just start to laugh
I really don’t mind reactions like that
You say you don’t know how this could be true
Well, please let me have a minute to enlighten you
There is no love given that’s better than from a pet
Well, other than from an infant, I’ve not found it yet
So much trust and love they give only to you
And they do almost anything you ask them to do
Very rarely do they ever let you down
When you need them, they’re always around
They come running when you call their name
And never do they hurt you or play games
You always know if they’re happy or not to see you
Never on purpose do they leave you lonely, or blue
They always give true, pure, unconditional love
So that’s why it’s their praise I’m singing of
