When the new year opens,
To you we are beholden.
The dust of time humbles man,
And erases their sacred plan.

The Lord is my light and salvation,
He will save us from damnation.
The wicked and mine enemies,
Will fall by their vanities.

Though they encamp against me,
I am blessed for I stand with thee.
For only one thing have I desired,
To dwell in your temple and admire.

In time of trouble, You shall hide me,
Upon a rock, you shall set me.
In the secret of Your tabernacle,
You shall release my shackle.

When my mother and father forsake me,
I will stand in the shadow of your tree.
Then you will take me to your vineyard,
Against false witnesses you shall guard.

I will wait upon the Lord,
Though I may fall by the sword.
Deliver me not over to my foes,
For your goodness and mercy flows.

Hide not thy face from your servant,
Lead me from the serpent.
Lift my head above my rivals,
Their judgement is evil.
