Searching For Me
By Ember Lane
I used to laugh with a fire in my chest,
Now I smile, but it’s just a guest.
Missing the days when I’d dance in the rain,
Now I’m stuck, just numb from the pain.
Laughter was light, it was the air I breathed,
Now it’s a whisper that I can't believe.
I dig for the joy, but it slips through my hands,
I’m searching for pieces of who I am.
I miss her, I miss me,
The woman I used to be.
The stars, the sky, the music in my soul,
Now I’m lost, but I’m searching for control.
Some days I find hope, some days I feel trapped,
Caught in between, but I’m looking back.
I miss her, I miss me,
I’m digging for the woman I used to be.
The little things don’t shine like before,
The music’s softer, like it’s lost the score.
I used to feel every note in my veins,
Now it’s distant, just echoes in the rain.
Where’s the spark that used to light the night?
Where’s the laughter that felt so right?
I try to smile, but it’s hard to see,
The woman I loved staring back at me.
Maybe she’s hiding, somewhere deep inside,
Maybe she’s waiting for the tears to dry.
But I’m learning, slowly, how to breathe again,
Trying to find her, to be whole, my friend.
I miss her, I miss me,
But I’ll keep looking, I’ll keep searching.
I miss her, I miss me,
I’ll find her again... I’ll find me.
