My Love is Forever

I think every day of my old life,
A perfect marriage, and lovely wife.
We met while still in education,
A romance beyond explanation.
After only our very first date,
I knew that she was my true soul mate.
It was very early in the spring
That our love really began growing,
Then our romance became something new,
Blossoming into the love we knew.
Growing throughout the long summer days,
As each of us learned the other’s ways.
We worked and travelled to many isles,
Investigated other lifestyles.
Always together, never alone,
Then finally settled in our home.
My true love you will always be
Much more than just a memory,
The person who set my heart free,
And who will always be with me.
The golden couple, so often said,
A life so good after we were wed.
But fate decided it would not last,
They’re all now memories of the past.
Toward the autumn, the illness came,
So dimming that bright life's living flame.
The glow of love was still brightly there,
But now sharp and brittle in her stare.
Then with the winter the body tired,
As that special life gently expired.
And then one night, while the stars still shone,
While in my arms, that bright light gone.
I think every day of my old life,
A perfect marriage, and lovely wife.
I’m happy that our lives were the best,
And that with her I will one day rest
My true love you will always be
Much more than just a memory,
The person who set my heart free,
And who will always be with me.
