Yesterday's Sun Is In a Slumber

By katherine appello
Yesterday's sun is in a Slumber.
The fields were green and grass was swaying with the wind,
Now, the grass, and blooms they hardly emerge;
Yet the roots are still there, down deep, waiting,
Not visible to the naked eye.
That does not mean they are gone.

Yesterday's sun is in a Slumber.
Now, we see the stark trees, with think arms and hands,
No blooms or flowers, or summer fruits do hang on them.
Yet they are not gone, no not gone,
For they will return with Spring, they will return.

Yesterday's sun is in a Slumber.
The snow covers the ground and nature, even homes,
A glistening blanket of white, picturesque,
The stuff of Christmas cards.
The sun is not gone, simply in the background,
In a slumber, but not gone.
