The Streets Of My Mind
By Rob Spencer
V1.
I stood outside the house today,
the one you used to call home,
the one that for all those years was the place you were when I'd call you on the phone.
I can still see me there, next to the coffee machine,
talking of all the dreams that once belonged to you and me, the way it used to be.
CHS.
It's still all there in the streets of my mind.
Up and down the avenues, all the memories I still find.
Every song I ever played, all the love I ever made,
every good meal I ever had; every conversation that made me glad.
All I cared about is never that hard to find, as I travel up and down the streets of my mind.
V2.
Things may come and things may go.
Such as child-like innocence we may never again know.
The tender times that were not so tough, before the road ahead became so rough.
But I can always turn down memory lane and be back where I was again.
As the clouds clear, almost like it never rained.
CHS.
It's still all there in the streets of my mind. Up and down the avenues, all the memories I still find.
Every song I ever played, all the love I ever made,
every good meal I ever had; every conversation that made me glad.
All I cared about is never that hard to find, as I travel up and down the streets of my mind.
V3.
The world may change, and that's not always bad.
But sometimes I find myself missing what we once had.
I know going forward life can never be like it was back then,
and it will never be, until I turn around, and know, once again
CHS.
It's still all there in the streets of my mind.
Up and down the avenues, all the memories I still find.
Every song I ever played, all the love I ever made,
every good meal I ever had; every conversation that made me glad.
All I cared about is never that hard to find, as I travel up and down the streets of my mind.
(tag) All I hold dear, is always near, as I look behind, and travel through the streets of my mind
