BLACK SUN

By Keith Howard
It was, or so it seemed

The job of my dreams

Had my future planned

Til fate played its hand

Cos streamlined automation

Saves, many a grand

And then I got a letter

Was hard, for them to say

But robots did it better

They couldn’t let me stay

My tears, just got wetter

The sun turned black that day

(Chorus)

And a black sun

Will cast no shadows

As it sets

Just leave broken dreams

Lost promises

And regrets....

So, as I look back

On what, is now behind

I ask myself

Will life improve sometime?

She was, or so it seemed

The girl of my dreams

Had my future planned

Would ask, for her hand

But then she took a trip

So far away, on a ship

And then I got a letter

Was hard, for her to say

She’d found somebody better

Yes, heartbreak came to say

My tears, just got wetter

The sun turned black that day

(Chorus)

And a black sun

Will cast no shadows

As it sets

Just leave broken dreams

Lost promises

And regrets....

So, as I look back

On what, is now behind

I ask myself

Will life improve sometime?

(Bridge)

Fate - Show's its hand....

Lines - Drawn in the sand....

Choose - Which way to turn....

Hard – Lessons to learn....

(Chorus)

And a black sun

Will cast no shadows

As it sets

Just leave broken dreams

Lost promises

And regrets....

So, as I look back

On what, is now behind

I ask myself

Will life improve sometime?

My boy, I thought it seemed

Looked smart, his buttons gleamed

He had his future planned

Went to war behind a band

A shocked look as he fell

Screaming echoes of the shell

And then I got a letter

Was hard, for them to say

He’d sadly not got better

No, his life had slipped away

My tears, just got wetter

The sun turned black that day

(Chorus)

And a black sun

Will cast no shadows

As it sets

Just leave broken dreams

Lost promises

And regrets....

So, as I look back

On what, is now behind

I ask myself

Will life improve sometime?

**(Chorus Repeat / Playout)**
