Was it not you who I saw talking
to the man with the bald head?
No, I must have been mistaken,
I thought he was dead!

Was it not you who I saw in town?
You were looking rather lost
Did you want the garage
or was it the park with the gate?
You were wearing high heels,
it was getting rather late

Was it not you who I saw standing
at the bus stop in the pouring rain?
You were getting soaked by the passing traffic
and the waiting was all in vain; still you weren't
to know they had changed the route

But it wasn't you;
you weren't who I thought you were
It wasn't you who I saw pushing a pram
I was wrong all along,
I was never really sure
You weren't a bit like her:
she was tall and you were fat,
you had blonde hair and she wore a wig
She was thin and you were twice as big
Anyone can make a mistake,
you must have been someone else
