I’m here to report the state of the nation
Believe me; no time for elation
We’ve hit rock bottom – low as we can go
It’s no delusion, as everyone should know
How could this happen; what can we do?
Listen to me; I’ll spell it out for you

T – is the Trust; a thing of the past
R – is for Rage, which is sure to last
U – is for Uphill, as we fight our way
M – is for the Message being sent today
P – is for Politics – being served up wrong
And, the very reason we don’t get along

I’m here to report the state of the nation
Giving it to you without reservation
We’re embarking on a brand new day
We won’t give up, we’re on our way
So listen to what we have to say
And, let the pieces fall where they may

T – is for the Times, we’re living in today
R – is for Rights being taken away
U – is Unlikely; you will never hear the truth
M – is for the Message being sent to you
P – is for the Poor, who can’t catch a break
And, nightly news being reported as fake

T – is for the Trauma of kids in a cage
R – is the Racism, we’re facing today
U – is the Ugliness we’re force to endure
M – is for the Madness, which has no cure
P – is for the Poison, I’m sad to say
Injected into the system each and every day
