“How did you get in to songwriting?”

I used to love writing stories when I was younger, I had a great imagination! Then when i was about ten years old,  I started singing and my stories turned to lyrics. It became a way for me to project my thoughts and it began to act as a form of therapy.

“Where did you study songwriting?”

I never actually studied songwriting, I just say what I am feeling at the time . I just write from the heart! It is certainly something i will take up though as i know i still have areas to explore and expand on.

” What are your musical influences?

Without a doubt my parents are my musical influences. My Mum always had country music blaring she was always singing. My Dad loved Neil Diamond and he played the accordion, he was my biggest fan and was always taking any opportunity to get me sing to anyone who would listen.

” What would you say are your achievements as a songwriter?

After i lost my Dad, I lost my passion. One day i just decided it’s time to write again. I took a leap of faith and put my work out there. I was contacted by a young woman, she asked me to write lyrics to a piece of music she composed, she told me of the message she wanted it to project. I got pen to paper and she was thrilled with the finished piece and played it at her graduation ceremony. I smiled for days after that, I found my passion again.

“People you’ve performed or collaborated with?”

I have some very talented musician friends, we frequently have a get together and we put our lyrics to music. We call it a Jam night, we don’t rehearse anything, we just go with the flow and that’s the fun in it.

“Who are your favorite artists and why?”

Sia, I just think she is a legend! I love her because she’s just seems such a normal/ regular person and tries to live a private life as much as she can. I really respect and admire her. She has written some of the most beautiful songs. She’s just a super talented lady!

‘Lady Antebellum’- I just feel their music in ways I can’t explain, whether i’m doing the housework or getting ready for a night with the girls they’ll be playing in the background.

“Thoughts on the music Industry?”

I would love to see more exposure for country music. I think there is a market there which people would love to hear. We all have an inner cowgirl/ cowboy don’t we?!,,

“Thoughts about Songbay?”

There is no other market like Songbay! Songbay has played a huge part in helping me find myself and my passion again. It has gave me the confidence by giving me the courage to get my lyrics out there for people to see. It has gave me hope that my dream of becoming a songwriter could actually become a reality!

“Other Thoughts”

Whatever the future holds for my career i will continue to work hard. Years ago i would have thought it wouldn’t be possible to be an established songwriter but now i have hope. The possibility of hearing my lyrics on the radio and connecting with people emotionally! I would be a happy happy girl!

Heal a Broken Soul  published at Songbay

When you ever find yourself
In a dark and lonely place
Feeling like there’s no help
And everything’s a haze
You don’t wanna look ahead
It all just seems in ruins
Feel like your hanging by a thread
Feel like letting go to soon

Hold on a little longer
This misery you can conquer

It’s gonna be alright
Don’t lose your self control
Let me heal your broken soul
I’m gonna hold a light
Shine it through the black hole
Let me heal your broken soul

Feels like an invisible prison
And theres no way to escape
Damned with a polluted vision
Poison you want to erase
Clouded thought implanted
Disrupts your frame of mind
Left you feeling stranded
On an island no one can find

Hold on just a little longer
This misery you can conquer

It’s gonna be alright
Don’t lose your self control
Let me heal your broken soul
I’m gonna hold a light
Shine it through the black hole
Let me heal your broken soul
