“I really started while on a work assignment in the UK three years ago. I was listening to a UK radio station and heard Jess Glynne and Ed Sheeran. It really made me thinking of writing my own tunes. I have written poetry for years and had thought I would give it a try.  Songwriting is much like writing poetry which I’ve done for years. I’m really hoping that someone buys some of my lyrics to finish out an album. It only takes selling one song lyric to jump start something great.

I’ve read a lot on songs and how musicians write. I also have read everything I can on music. I’ve taken some workshops that have incorporated songwriting with poetry and prose. I try to write something every day. Even if it’s two or three sentences of a verse that don’t seem to go together. Some song lyrics take time other things can happen within hours.

I currently now have 33 song lyrics copyrighted with the government and published and available for sale at Songbay
