Well I made up my mind / Sometime ago / When it came down to a choice
On what I should do / Or what I should be / And could I make a livin with my voice

It took me awhile / To put it all together / Workin places I don't belong
But my mind was made / The first time I played / And sang a country song

Chorus
I'm Country
And I don't mind tellin you
I'm Country
Country thru and thru
Country
And I'm right where I belong
When I'm SINGIN---- (break)
A 2 step country song

2nd
With a prayer in my whisper / And a young girls heart / I started like others before
Playin when I could / And sleepin when I would, Cause that's all I could afford
But I was determined / Like a preacher's sermon / I believe I heard the call
So now when I play / And sing my songs / It's Country or nothin at all

Chorus
I'm Country
And I don't mind tellin you
I'm Country
Country thru and thru
Country
And I'm right where I belong
When I'm singin----(break)
A 2 step country song

Instrumental

3rd
Where tomorrow leads, / I can't be certain / Could be I'm in Kansas somewhere
And if Kansas is the state / Then Nashville gotta wait / But one day I'll be there
And somewhere down the line / When I finally hit the big time / I'll tell about what a trip it's been
But till Nashville's home / I'll keep on keepin on / Singin----- Country till then

Chorus
I'm Country
And I don't mind tellin you
I'm Country
Country thru and thru
Country
And I'm right where I belong
When I'm singin----( break)
A 2 step country song

REPEAT chorus

I'm Country

All of my life
I've lived in the city
Pushin and buckin the crowds

And all my life
I've been sayin
I'm gonna get out some how

Well the chance never came
But just the same
I've never let my dream die

Cause one of these days
I'll pack everything
And bid this big city bye-bye

Chorus
Bye-bye--- ya big city
Ya never showed--- No pity
And I've already stayed, WAY TO LONG

I'm tradin high-- rise castles
Headaches-- and hassles
For starry nights
And a bbbbboot scootin country song

Instrumental

2nd
Now more and more
I'm feelin the stress
Of this big city pace

And more and more
I'm standin in line
Tryin to get some place

Now for money I'm still broke
But no, no I won't
I won't let, let it defeat this girl

Cause one of these days
I'm packin up everything
And I'm biddin this big city bye-bye

Chorus
Bye-bye----ya big city
Ya never showed---- NO pity
And I've already stayed---Way to Long

I'm tradin high--- rise castles
Headaches--- and hassles

For starry nights
And a bbbbboot scootin country song

Repeat

Bye-Bye Big City

Chorus
I'm on my way back
I've been gone too long
I'm on my way back
My way back home

I burnt some bridges
Gotta make amends

I'm on my way back
Back home again

1st
Best I remember, best I recall
I grew up just a runnin
And dodgin the law

I can't explain it, so I won't try
But trouble was my buddy
And we ran side by side

2nd
Right from the get go, right from the start
They said I was twisted
Like a rejected part

My speech was stammered, so I spoke with my fist
And if you ran with me
Then it came at high risk

Chorus
I'm on my way back
I've been gone too long
I'm on my way back
My way back home

I burnt some bridges
Gotta make amends

I'm on my way back
Back home again

Instrumental

Turn Around
Just a two light town
And a hardware store
I was young back then
Lookin for more

Caged and collared
That's how it felt
There was no way, that I could stay
With the hand -I'ddd- been dealt

3rd
Mama, she warned me, don't go messin with drugs
Slipped me some cash
And gave me a hug

No good-bye party
Just a cold mornin mist
And my girl Lucinda's
Departing kiss

Chorus
I'm on my way back
I've been gone too long
I'm on my way back
My way back home

I burnt some bridges
Gotta make amends

I'm on my way back
Back home again

Repeat

I'm On My Way Back

Well we never had much
But I never felt shamed
That's just how it was
Wasn't lookin to blame

It didn't come easy
But with new hope found
I bought myself
Biggest toy in town

Chorus
Got a big red truck
That I call Chuck
We like to plaaaay
In the Mississippi mud

We slip and sliiiide
It's a heck of a ride
Through the mire and muck
In my big red truck

2nd

Now the sheriff it seems
He had a pet peeve
When I'd hit town
He'd be waitin for me

But all that changed
When the old bridge caved
And Chucky pulled the sheriff
From a watery grave

Chorus
Got a big red truck
That I call Chuck
We like to plaaaay
In the Mississippi mud

We slip and sliiiide
It's a heck of a ride
Through the mire and muck
In my big red truck

Instrumental

3rd
Have ya ever seen envy
In a "Red Necks" eyes
It's a beautiful thing
Let me tell ya why

All those girls
Who never gave chance
Now their crawlin on Chucky
Like hungry ants

Chorus
Got a big red truck
That I call Chuck
We like to plaaaay
In the Mississippi mud

We slip and sliiiide
It's a heck of a ride
Through the mire and muck
In my big red truck

Repeat

Got a Big Red Truck

My daddy was a cowboy / And granddaddy too
So when I came along / That's the only life I knew
Coffee cups, pickup trucks / And away we would go
Bustin broncs, honkytonks / Just a chasin rodeos

2nd
By the time I was fifteen / I was on my own
By the time I made twenty / I'd broke most every bone
So I called it quits, I said that's it / One California day
When a big ole Braham sat me down / I said I'm gonna stay

Chorus
I'm a west Texas cowboy
Turned California kid

I said it couldn't happen
But somehow it did

I've traded my horse
For highest bid-----

I'm a west Texas cowboy
Turned California kid

Instrumental

Turn-Around
There'll always be a part of me
In every country song
For once that was the life I lived
And I called Texas home

But somewhere it happened
I lost my desire
And you can't be a cowboy
Once you've lost the FIRE----

3rd
I've traded my bed roll / For a luxury hotel
I gave up all rough house ways / And over nights in jail
Got the ocean at my door steps / And the ladies on parade
Givin up that cowboy life / Best move I've ever made

Chorus
I'm a west Texas cowboy
Turned California kid

I said it couldn't happen
But somehow it did

I've traded my horse
For highest bid------

I'm a west Texas cowboy
Turned California kid

Repeat

About Me

Bio

Been writing songs for 50 yrs plus, but never had the money or skill to have them professionally produced. I'm a Viet-Nam Vet and a proud American. I write of what I have learned from life's realities. My songs usually contain a strong chorus so the listener, is soon singing along. I try putting the singer/listener in the shoes of truckers, gamblers, patriot's, both blue and white collar workers, country singers, cowboys etc.. Each song has a story waiting to be told.

CV/History

I've never tried doing much with my songs, but did give a Bluegrass song to the Wimberley Brothers. The song, Hard Work Never Made Me Blue, got a short play on the TV show, Malcom in the Middle. Actually received a check from Warner Brothers, it made my day!
