Verse 1
In the twilight glow of a silver song,
You laid the stars where the chords belong,
A spaceship of colours in electric skies,
You taught the world how a melody flies.

Chorus
Shine on, Mr. Blue,
Your sound is the sun breaking through,
Every line, every tune,
Take us over the moon.
Shine on, shine on,
We’re still singing along.

Verse 2
From a Shard End dream to world stage heights
You sprinkled the dark with a million lights,
Orchestras danced with the rock and roll flame,
And nothing, no, nothing was ever the same.

Chorus
Shine on, Mr. Blue,
Your sound is the sun breaking through,
Every line, every tune,
Take us over the moon.
Shine on, shine on,
We’re still singing along.

Bridge
Through the echoes, through the years,
Your voice is the symphony we hear,
Galaxies spin to your golden songs,
The universe hums and we all sing along.

Final Chorus
Shine on, Mr. Blue,
Our world still turns because of you,
Every note that you drew
Is forever a light shining through.
Shine on, shine on,
Your music lives on.

Thank you Mr Jeff Lynne

Not Just For Christmas

Spoken word

Hey Blue, it’s that time of year again already. Where did that time go?
Woah! Yeah, where did it go? Just gone in the blink of an eye, just gone.
Merry Christmas Blue - Merry Christmas

Musical Intro

Verse 1
It’s here again, you’re full of Christmas cheer
Tell me my friend what have you done this year?
Did you keep your resolutions?
Did you find the right solutions?
Nevermind, next year - just try again
It’s not too late to make that change - change - change

CHORUS
So when the kids are skating on very thin ice
And they’re promising Sants they’re gonna be nice
Niceness is for life, not just for Christmas
When you’re wishing this year for peace on earth
And you’re making that wish for all you’re worth
Peace is for life not just for Christmas

Verse 2
This Christmas time as you wonder will it snow?
Another year has flown, the seasons they come and they go
Did you take time to call on Mater?
Did you make peace with poor old Pater?
It’s good to know - you’ll try again
I’m glad to hear you’ll make that change - next - year

CHORUS
So when you’re raising a glass of Christmas cheer
Then you’re ringing on in a brand new year
Ring in for life, not just for Christmas
When you’re taking a cup of kindness yet
For the sake of Auld Lang Syne - YES
Kindness is for life, not just for Christmas

Instrumental

BRIDGE

Ring out the old Blue
Ring in the new Blue
It’s time for change
And it’s all on you

Coda
So ring in peace and niceness love and kindness
Ring them in for life
Yeah ring in peace and niceness love and kindness
Ring them in for life
We’ll ring in peace - and - niceness - love - and - kindness
Ring-them-in-for-life

THE SPIRIT OF NESTA

Verse 1
In any one lifetime legends are few
So sad so many die young
So much more music still left within
So many more songs to be sung
Way up in Nine Mile, sweet old Jamaica
To Ciddie a legend was born
How could she know what fate would behold him?
Between two worlds he’d be torn
So much he gave, his soul and his music
So hard to stay did he try
Although he’s passed his soul is still with you
Legends like Nesta never die

Melody change - bridge or pre-chorus

So if you’re ever in the heart of the mountains of Jamaica
And the sugar cane is swaying while the weather is so calm
If you hear a mellow voice singing sweetly all around you
And hear a guitar riff echo softly through the palm

Chorus
If you feel somebody beside you
Don’t be afraid
It’s only the spirit of Nesta
If you feel a hand reach out to guide you
Don’t be afraid
It’s only the Spirit of Nesta
No no no don’t be afraid
It’s only the spirit of Nesta

.
Verse 2
So sensitive so spiritual,
His destiny he’d see
Knowing Jah would call him soon
And set his spirit free
Like a buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta
With faith in Rastafari
Never feel troubled never feel pain
At peace in the arms of Jah lie
The spirit of Nesta will always be
A sweet, sweet song from the heart
If it’s true what they say, all the world is a stage
Bob Marley- you - played - your - part

Repeat bridge/pre-chorus and chorus

Coda is drums then Africa! Africa! (Idea)

Al wasn’t wanted by the producers for The Godfather. Frances Ford Coppola insisted he was the right one. The rest is history. In capitals are films titles and quotes from films of Al Pacino. He is high up on the wire and successful while I’m still thinking about getting on the ladder….for anything. Always just thinking and not doing. It applies to anybody.

Life’s On The Wire

Verse 1
Life’s on the wire-the rest is just waiting
Waiting while I wait here contemplating
YOU’VE GOT THE FIRE and how it’s burning
You’re the artist on the wire while I’m still learning
I’M IN THE DARK HERE you see the mountain
I’m feeling like a SCARECROW IN THE FOUNTAIN
Cos you’re so high and I’m so low
And you don’t even know THE PEOPLE I KNOW (you’re Al Pacino)

Pre-chorus - Melody change-
I know you found it hard to put your pride upon the shelf
When you knew the one they wanted wasn’t you
You’re a long way from the days you were AT WAR WITH YOURSELF
You didn’t make way for the BAD GUY COMING THROUGH

Chorus
You’ve really had it all-I hope you never fall
From your life on the wire
I see you play the part with a passion in your heart
How it burns with desire?
REACH OUT AND TAKE MY HAND c’mon just take my hand
AND WE’LL WALK THROUGH THE FIRE
I know you’ll never fall-you said as I recall
‘Life’s always on the wire’

Verse 2
You’re on the wire and I’m still waiting
I’ve wasted precious time just hesitating
Yet still I wait here patience is a virtue
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL the things that hurt you
YOU’VE GOT THE STUFF PAPPY what could I teach you?
You’re way up now that I can’t even reach you
I’d walk the wire with you on ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
So on this DOG DAY AFTERNOON, I’m glad it’s Monday

Pre-chorus -Melody change

If you could look down and not stumble
While I wonder why we’re a million miles apart
You’d see me down here so small and humble
I KNOW IT WAS YOU, YOU BROKE MY HEART, YOU BROKE MY HEART

Chorus

Coda

You say a man’s reach should way exceed his grasp
Otherwise, what is a heaven for?
But how can I reach you, you’re moving much too fast.
You’re much higher than you’ve ever been before.

DON’T WISH IT AWAY

Verse 1

At Christmas time you tell me of your wishes and dreams, your hopes and schemes
Every time I tell you things are not all that they seem
Be careful what you wish for
They say it may come true
When you know everything in life is there for you

Chorus

Don’t wish it away, que sera sera
What will be will be, be just what you are
In everything you do, let life be good to you
But don’t wish it away, don’t wish it away
Don’t wish it away, this Christmas day
Don’t wish it away, don’t wish it away, don’t wish it away.

Verse 2

On New Year’s Eve, you tell me what you wish the year to surely bring
I do believe you wish too much for needless fancy things
You don’t need fame and fortune
You don’t need gold and pearls
When you’ve got somebody’s love you’ve got the world

Chorus

Instrumental into bridge

Bridge

Don’t get pulled into this world of greed
Believe me, you’ve got everything you need
Open up your eyes and you will see
Every day’s a good day, mercy me

Life's On The Wire

About Me

Bio

I live in Oldham, Lancashire UK. Although never my vocation, my main profession is an LGV Driver. (YouTube Marie reversing.) I was artistic at school with both pen and pencil and seemed to be often drawing and writing poetry. I have written poems for family and friends' occasions, birthdays, etc, and even funerals, and made them humorous while cramming their life stories into about 52 lines. I wrote my first song in 1997 after reading Bob Marley's mother's biography which was very sad and inspired me to write. Also whilst I am thinking up a song, I get the melodies in my head at the same time. I am not a vocalist or a musician but play the melodies out basically on my keyboard.

CV/History

One finalist, four semi-finalists, and highly commended entries in the UKSC (United Kingdom Songwriting Contest) most of them scoring 5/5. An honoury award in the Great American Song Contest with an excellent critique for the first song I ever wrote, The Spirit Of Nesta, a song about Bob Marley. The finalist position was for a song I wrote about the great method actor Al Pacino. I have written two Christmas songs which both won awards in the UKSC. I wrote a song a few days after the Manchester Arena attack and have a full backing track with demo/guide vocals. I would like somebody/a band to take it on with proceeds to Manchester charities/Ukranian refugees in Manchester (on my part). It's not something I could personally profit from due to the subject.
