Redneck With A Paycheck

Driving down the highway, stuck in the center groove,
Got my flasher flashing, but no one wants to move,
Everyone seems hurried, to make it through their day,
Lately it sure seems like, we’re in each other’s way.

Where did all the people go, who used to wave you by?
Where did all the people go, who couldn’t tell a lie?
When did we let kindness, unravel and unfurl?
Where did all the people go, that made a better world?

Classroom full of students, the future of our land,
Playing on the playground, and playing in the band.
Troubled kid comes walking in, starts taking lives in vain,
Then he takes his own life, ending all his pain.

Where did all the people go, who used to wave you by?
Where did all the people go, who couldn’t tell a lie?
When did we let kindness, unravel and unfurl?
Where did all the people go, that made a better world?

We need to get together, start talking face to face,
Listening to each other, can make this a better place,
Start caring for each other, with no regard for self,
Then maybe if were lucky, if we’re very very lucky,

We’ll become the people, who stop to wave you by.
We’ll become the people, who cannot tell a lie.
We’ll become the people, who let our love unfurl,
We’ll become the people, that can make a better world.

Better World

Perfect day, the end of May, flowers, sun, and sand,
Waiting for my handsome man, can’t wait to hold your hand.
I only hope and wonder, as you speak to me your vow,
Will you feel the same way, 30 years from now.

Will you love me when I’m older, and my hair’s no longer dyed?
Will you tell me that you love me, every time we say good-buy?
Will you wrap your arms around me, and hold me just as tight?
Will you love me when I’m older, like you love me tonight?

Dancing with my daddy, I think of all the years,
I tell him that I’m happy, and his eyes fill up with tears.
He walks me to my new man, we hear our special song,
You tell me that you love me, and forever we belong.

Will you love me when I’m older, and my hair’s no longer dyed?
Will you tell me that you love me, every time we say good-buy?
Will you wrap your arms around me, and hold me just as tight?
Will you love me when I’m older, like you love me tonight?

If you ever wonder, if I feel the same way too,
Let me reassure you, I can’t live without you.

Will you love me when I’m older, and my hair’s no longer dyed?
Will you tell me that you love me, every time we say good-buy?
Will you wrap your arms around me, and hold me just as tight?
Will you love me when I’m older, like you love me tonight?

Will You Love Me

Just people and a casket, both matching charcoal black,
It’s all your friends and family, some from way way back.
They didn’t bring their favorite things, or any other stuff,
They came because they’ll miss you, knowing it would be tough.

There's no stuff at your funeral, it’s all still there at home,
It’s right there where you left it, some still shiny chrome.
It’s someone else's stuff now, unless they bring it to pawn,
And to think you used to worry, that someday it would all be gone.

You almost went to London, you almost went to Rome,
You almost went to Paris France, just couldn’t leave your home.
The watch you got from Grandpa, the antique from your mom,
That toolbox full of shiny tools, those tags from Vietnam.

There's no stuff at your funeral, it’s all still there at home,
It’s right there where you left it, some still shiny chrome.
It’s someone else's stuff now, unless they bring it to pawn,
And to think you used to worry, that someday it would all be gone.

It’s the time we spend with others, both family and friends,
This we need to cherish, before our whole life ends.

There's no stuff at your funeral, it’s all still there at home,
It’s right there where you left it, some still shiny chrome.
It’s someone else's stuff now, unless they bring it to pawn,
And to think you used to worry, that someday it would all be gone.

No Stuff At Your Funeral

She always was a good dog, she followed me everywhere,
She’d sit while I was eating, just knowing that I would share.
We both grew up together, since I was a little girl,
I couldn’t keep her by my side, whenever she saw a squirrel.

Chorus:
Daddy why is it doggies, don’t live as long as us?
Why can’t it be the same doggy, waiting for my bus?
Grandpa lived to be 90, and Grandma 92,
Daddy why is it doggies, can’t live to be that old too?

She can’t stand like she used to, she’s always falling down,
She used to run like Scooby Doo, chasing things around.
They say that’s how long that doggies live, this makes me feel so bad,
I just don’t want a new doggie now, cause I’m still feeling sad.

Chorus:
Daddy why is it doggies, don’t live as long as us?
Why can’t it be the same doggy, waiting for my bus?
Grandpa lived to be 90, and Grandma 92,
Daddy why is it doggies, can’t live to be that old too?

Bridge;
I’ve heard about that rainbow bridge, it sounds so nice and vast,
I hope she made it there ok, and is back to running fast.

Chorus:
Daddy why is it doggies, don’t live as long as us?
Why can’t it be the same doggy, waiting for my bus?
Grandpa lived to be 90, and Grandma 92,
Daddy why is it doggies, can’t live to be that old too?
