Better World
By Kevin Roberts
Driving down the highway, stuck in the center groove,
Got my flasher flashing, but no one wants to move,
Everyone seems hurried, to make it through their day,
Lately it sure seems like, we’re in each other’s way.
Where did all the people go, who used to wave you by?
Where did all the people go, who couldn’t tell a lie?
When did we let kindness, unravel and unfurl?
Where did all the people go, that made a better world?
Classroom full of students, the future of our land,
Playing on the playground, and playing in the band.
Troubled kid comes walking in, starts taking lives in vain,
Then he takes his own life, ending all his pain.
Where did all the people go, who used to wave you by?
Where did all the people go, who couldn’t tell a lie?
When did we let kindness, unravel and unfurl?
Where did all the people go, that made a better world?
We need to get together, start talking face to face,
Listening to each other, can make this a better place,
Start caring for each other, with no regard for self,
Then maybe if were lucky, if we’re very very lucky,
We’ll become the people, who stop to wave you by.
We’ll become the people, who cannot tell a lie.
We’ll become the people, who let our love unfurl,
We’ll become the people, that can make a better world.
