Our Love Stands Alone (feat. Chris Porter)

Verse
Streets that aren't familiar to a boy lost and cold
Bike ride turned into a journey when I was 8 years old
Searching for reminders from where I came from
Seems I heard a voice calling "hurry home son"

Verse
Porch light came on, I heard our hound dog bark
My bike found the driveway, as dusk turned to dark
Momma was made as she could be, then she shed tear
You're late for dinner son, so glad you're here

Chorus
Momma always said, "don't stay away too long
hurry before it gets late, won't you find your way back home
You're always forgiven, if you think that you've done wrong
Remember, we all love you, won't you find your way back home".

Verse
Mom and dad came over, when I bought my first house
Laughed and remembered what they always talked about
We saw toys and bikes scattered in the house and yard
Make sure the kids are safe and never wonder too far

Chorus
Momma always said, "don't stay away too long
hurry before it gets late, won't you find your way back home
You're always forgiven, if you think that you've done wrong
Remember, we all love you, won't you find your way back home".

Verse
I'd call mom on the phone just to see how they've been
She'd say, "sure do miss you son, would love to see you again".
Your dad has been sick and he sure feels bad
Time is passing so quickly now, some days it makes me sad

Bridge
My daddy died before I could say good-bye
So many regrets in all the tears I cried
It seems complicated when you're living on your own
I wish so much now, that I could find my way back home

Chorus
Momma always said, "don't stay away too long
hurry before it gets late, won't you find your way back home
You're always forgiven, if you think that you've done wrong
Remember, we all love you, won't you find your way back home".

Find Your Way Back Home

Verse
I saw you in the kitchen, tears in your eyes
Suddenly felt a warm tingle inside
That's when I realized
it was glowing happiness, not sadness you cried

Verse
The warmth in your heart was plain to see
as we entwined in a sweet embrace
We share a heartbeat
that shows clear honesty, love runs down your face

Chorus
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love you more than I love myself
When you're happy, I never want for anything more
that's what I'm living for
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love more than I love myself

Verse
In the den we hold hands, just like kids again
We share a kiss that shivers us
There's fire in our hearts
it's burning strong, reigniting with every touch

Chorus
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love you more than I love myself
When you're happy, I never want for anything more
that's what I'm living for
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love more than I love myself

Verse
In the bedroom it overflows, now we both cry
It's a wave that we're riding on
makes life worth living
The feeling we have, each day goes beyond

Bridge
When love was created, it was made for this
to be shared by two, and to feel this wonderful bliss

Chorus
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love you more than I love myself
When you're happy, I never want for anything more
that's what I'm living for
Each moment with you
means more than anything else
I love more than I love myself

I love You More Than I Love Myself

Verse
Catfish jumping and the geese fly overhead
wild flowers growing along the water's edge
The sunset reflections a purple, golden hue
Sit on my tailgate and feel the mountain dew

Chorus
It's my lakefront view, though it's just a daydream
My lakefront view more a trickle than a stream
Right now it's just a pretty picture in my mind
Someday I'll leave the whole world behind
The daydream will come true, in my lakefront view

Verse
Clock watching is over, the work day is through
Drive to my future home, to see my lake view
The road turns to gravel, then it turns to dirt
Just past a meadow and a little country church

Verse
I'm thinking four bedrooms and a big sundeck
A fireplace for cold nights adds a nice effect
A hot tub for the wife so she can unwind
A fishing pier with a boat so I can always drop a line

Chorus
It's my lakefront view, though it's just a daydream
My lakefront view more a trickle than a stream
Right now it's just a pretty picture in my mind
Someday I'll leave the whole world behind
The daydream will come true, in my lakefront view

Verse
I sit by the lake side on a warm starry night
A camp fire crackles in the glowing moonlight
Lightning bugs flicker, a distant hound dog barks
Peace in my mind and warmth in my heart

Bridge
Someday I'll have a house on that lake right there
I'll spend all my days without a single care
If it's the last thing I ever do
I'm gonna have a lakefront view

Chorus
It's my lakefront view, though it's just a daydream
My lakefront view more a trickle than a stream
Right now it's just a pretty picture in my mind
Someday I'll leave the whole world behind
The daydream will come true, in my lakefront view

About Me

Bio

Winner 2019 Songbay Lyric Writing contest. Featured in December 2019 issue of Write Away Magazine. I've always been creative and have been writing lyrics for many years. What's on Songbay is only a small sample of my work. My lyrics cover lots of different musical taste. I honestly feel that I can write whatever you want. Often, I get a a word or two as an idea and I can write a lyric. I'd be interested in sharing some of my lyrics for collaboration or for sell.
