Looking out the window. Waiting for the rain to stop.
Gonna meet my baby at the local coffee shop.
Don’t wanna be late so I grab my keys and run.

Well, Jenny is waiting and boy she looks real fine.
I’ve got a ring in my pocket. Gonna ask her to be mine.
The band is playing and I’m holding my baby tight.
Then we're gonna walk home cos we mustn't be late tonight.

We get to her door. She says “please don't be mad.
But I’d really like it if you met my mum and dad”.
Well my heart is pounding but I say that's fine by me.
Cos she doesn't know I was planning to take a knee.

Her folks are cool and her momma looks just like her.
I whisper to her daddy “I need to ask you, sir.
I’d like your blessing to ask for your daughter's hand.
But if you need time then I guess I’ll understand”.

Jenny and her mom are in the kitchen fixing snacks.
But her daddy calls “hey, can you girls come on back.
This boys got a question and he wants us all to see”.
Then he gives me a nod and I get down on my knee.

Jenny's face is beaming and her momma starts to cry.
Jenny says yes and I let out one big sigh.
Then her daddy shakes my hand and her momma gives me a hug
They put on a record and Jenny rolls back the rug.

Well we dance for a while then we talk and make our plan.
My girls beside me with my ring upon her hand.
It's getting late so its time to say goodbye
And I walk on home, feeling like a lucky guy.

When I get to work at big Rick's auto store
Gonna check my hours then I'll ask him for some more
‘cos it won't be long before I carry her through that door.

You could start your own small business

Or if manual work just isn’t to your liking
Maybe you could do some sort of art.

When you finally, stop looking for excuses
And Instead you look to find a way
The doors of opportunity will open
It doesn’t feel like work, but play.

Life is short so why keep on complaining?
Make a plan to go and grab your share
Don’t lay in bed, get up and grab a coffee
Make a start and you are half-way there.

Set yourself a goal that you can aim for.
Just tough enough but one that you can do.
Keep on going till you’ve reached your daily target
It’s in your hands to make a better you.

It’s been a hot minute since I was at school
Ignoring the teachers and acting the fool.

Why live for the weekend? What’s wrong with today?

Making fast money often ends up in jail.

You want all the freedom and also the time.
You’re told you can get it. Just do the crime.
Too many young men, start selling a drug
And end up in graves that their lifestyle has dug.

Losing your freedom
can seem just like hell
When the years pass so slowly
Whilst you sit in a cell.

Compared to a headstone, jail seems like good luck
When things have gone sideways to make a quick buck.
Meanwhile on the outside, there’s the guys that played straight.
They’ve worked for their money, now they’re out on a date.

The girls are now women. They want all the toys
They know they won’t get them by mixing with boys.
They want something better, not just to survive.
A brand new mercedes parked up on the drive.
Inside their clocks ticking, it’s driving them wild
Nature is calling, they must have a child.
Their instinct is saying, feather the nest
‘Our child’ must have, only the best.

They need a provider that’s willing to work.
Not some young street rat or drug dealing jerk.
Someone like their dad, a dependable guy
Works hard for the family, so they can buy

A beautiful home with a manicured lawn
Safe and secure for when baby is born.
It seems crazy to think, as she’s changing a nappy
That this is the life that’s making her happy

The husband has given up looking for thrills
He’s now responsible for paying the bills.
To the casual onlooker, maybe it seems
As if he’s surrendered and forgotten his dreams.

The truth is he hasn’t, so let me explain
All that has happened, his dreams have now changed.
He’s chosen to have a traditional life.
A home for his children, for him and his wife.

They go to a restaurant for dinner and wine
Then head home to bed to have a good time.
Two weeks in the summer they get to relax
On chairs by a pool, they lay on their backs.

Their children are growing and soon they are teens
Eyes on their phones and glued to the screen
Then off with their friends, and dad knows the score
About what they're saying when they’re out of the door.

How they’ll make a promise and they’ll state it bold,
unlike their parents, they’ll never grow old.
As they laugh at their music and how they are dressed
They don’t need advice because they all know best.

There was a time when i guess i trusted people.
Like teachers who would only teach a fact.
But things have changed.
Not always for the better.
And i really wish that we could get that back.

Cos now they teach a man can be a woman.
Just because, they say that’s what they are.
And it’s enough for them to just declare it.
They don’t even need to wear a bra.

And doctors say a man can now get pregnant?
I really think they need a padded room.

Supposedly a place of holy joy!
The church has always had their little secrets.
Those priests, they really love a choir boy.

Of course we know we can’t trust politicians.
They’ll say whatever, just to get your vote.
How they know that times are hard for everybody.
They say that we are all in that same boat.

But then their limo takes them to a restaurant.
They wash their wagyu steak down with champagne.
Whilst children go to bed still feeling hungry
And homeless people try to dodge the rain.

So that’s why I think music is important.
Finally, there is something that is real.
The songwriter creates a certain message.
You hear the music and it makes you feel.

There's no prescription needed.
