I’ve never been one to take the beaten path
I like to take the road less travelled
And I often lose myself
I’ve been missing many times
And I’m pretty hard to re-find

It’s like the wiring in my brain is misfiring
And I can’t do
the simplest things
I become weary and tired
And my bed is the only place
That I can call a safe space

I have a tendency to make the same mistake
Over and over and over again
Much too my own chagrin

I know the choices I’m making aren’t wise
But there’s something deep inside
That says “Do it anyway”
The gratification is instant
But the consequences are in the distance
And I only have tunnel vision

When I create problems
It’s not unusual for me to double down
Rather than solve them

I’m not a stupid person
But I’ve done a lot of stupid things
I’m not an ugly person
But I’ve had many ugly dreams
