The Dogwoods

Verse:
Staring at the window,
From the bed we once shared.
We could not figure out,
A way to save this pair.
And in that moment of darkness,
The Lord helped me to cope.
It was the blooming of the dogwoods,
That filled me with hope.

Chorus:
Looking out that window,
Staring at new life,
With each bud that opened up,
I thought less about my wife.
A reminder of things to come,
A better peaceful way.
Thank God for the dogwoods,
To make it through that day.

Verse:
I’ve never felt more lonely,
Then looking through that pane.
Knowing my life, as it were,
Would never be the same,
In a forest full of colored leaves,
And a swing made out of rope,
It was the blooming of the dogwoods,
That filled me with hope.

Chorus:
Looking out that window,
Staring at new life,
With each bud that opened up,
I thought less about my wife.
A reminder of things to come,
A better peaceful way.
Thank God for the dogwoods,
To make it through that day.

Bridge:
Oh yeah,
Sometimes, we cannot stand,
Sometimes, we trip and fall,
Sometimes, we break down and cry,
When there’s nowhere left to crawl….

Chorus:
Looking out the window,
Staring at new life,
With each bud that opened up,
I thought less about my wife.
A reminder of things to come,
A better peaceful way.
Thank God for the dogwoods,
To make it through that day.

Outro:
Thank you, God,
For the dogwoods,
To make it through that day.
