The clouds are hiding the sun from view
A darkening grey with shades of blue
Fog beginning to block the view
Destroying hopes of anything new

Blackened trees lumber about
Enhancing fears and mental doubt
Fighting with struggle, another bout
Peace desired, but living without

Minds a mess, a dark carnival
Wondering who’d see, if at all
Once you stood, now you fall
Towards the edge, quietly crawl

Care now gone, so confused
Sobbing mess, so abused
Lonely soul, used and bruised
Try to rise, again bemused

Understand, if you shall endure
Melancholy’s mystical allure
Exists in their dark demure
A dangerous place for the immature

Depression starts, but not depressed
Misunderstood, must confess
Melancholy hurts, so oppressed
Darkness reigns, light repressed

Ecstasy found, deep in the depths
Darkened journey, cause to reflect
To find the source, light and death
Peace in darkness, one must accept

Complications of the melancholic
To the world, seemingly diabolic
Rest assured, original gothic
Within the depths, we like to frolic

Tempting fate, and darkness’s hand
Living in conflict, emotional quicksand
On the edge, virtual dreamland
Betrothed to darkness, subconscious command
